The announcement from DeepMind of its recent AI breakthroughs highlight the power of AI but also serve to illustrate its challenges.
I believe that understanding the desired outcome, those involved and the potential avenues for getting there are the most important pre-requisites for providing effective, client-friendly legal advice. This then needs to be balanced by presenting the solutions in a way which can be understood – and evaluated – by the recipients of that advice, my clients.
I enjoy devising solutions for all types of legal problems while maintaining a sense of humour throughout. The cross-cultural aspect of international work is something which I find interesting. I invest time in trying to understand different business cultures so that I can help bridge misunderstandings and misconceptions and manage expectations.
I am commercially driven corporate lawyer, with experience of working in both industry and private practice. I am able to draw on my past experience to help clients solve their legal issues without losing sight of the commercial background. Building strong and long-lasting relationships with my clients and contacts, really getting to understand their businesses, is key to being able to provide the best advice when it is needed.
